One of my uncle was an engineer, so I knew that line of work existed, but my inspiration to go into engineering initially came from sailing and wanting to understand how it works.

My dad- he was an electronics engineer before he retired. When I was little I remember him always encouraging to me to be curious about the world around me, and this got me really interested in science. Then when I was 12, he bought me a microscope for Christmas, which got me interested in cells and microorganisms.

My grandparents and my Mum have inspired me 🙂 My mum showed me science shows, let me build things, and bought me toys like LEGO when I was young, and has encouraged me the whole way through my studies.

My granddad was a carpenter, and taught me how to use all his tools when I was young. I wasn’t always inspired to be an engineer, but I’ve always like building things and working with my hands, and I think he inspired that in me.
