It was my teachers who encouraged me. I really enjoyed the practical side of chemistry and physics 🙂 we got to make pop rockets from juice bottles and fire them over a building, and make fire extinguishers that got foam EVERYWHERE!

Nothing much, my interest about engineering came from sailing. An uncle of mine helped me to understand that there was such a thing as engineers, I was good but not great at maths and physics but my interest made me keen to carry on

I loved maths, and loved design and technology. When my parents and teachers figured that out, they helped steer me towards engineering.

I didn’t actually want to be an engineer until I was 21, during a chemistry degree at university. I did a project that was part engineering, where I made smart windows (windows that can change colour!)
I always loved science at school, but it wasn’t till I did that project at uni where I saw the fun in designing technology.

My school (like a lot of schools I think) wasn’t very good at telling us about engineering- they seem to focus only on science. Only 1 other person in my whole year became an engineer (1 of my friends, who now 3D prints airplane parts!)
