Students, we want to hear from you too! Click here to go to your profile survey and tell us what you think for a chance to win a £20 voucher! We asked James to tell us about winning I’m an Engineer, and here is what he said… I didn’t really know what I was signing up for when I applied for “I’m an Engineer, get me out of here”, but I was equal parts excited and relieved when I learned that I’d made the cut, and that it wouldn’t be hosted by Ant and Dec. Thankfully, the team here are so much more professional, helpful, and actually funny. They made the chats runs smoothly, provided us engineers with tips, and answered all of our questions quickly. Thank you for creating such a great event. Even with all their hard work, there still really was nothing that could have prepared me for the live chats. They were … Continue reading
The students have spoken. The votes have been double counted… Big congratulations to the Diagnosis Zone winner: James Clarke Hard luck to Sarah Hampson and Dawn Gillies but a huge thank you to everyone who took part. You were all brilliant. Students, don’t forget to tell us what you think about science and engineering now you’ve taken part. Log in to your profile, and fill in the 4 questions in the pink box on the right hand side, to be in with a chance to win a voucher.
We’ve counted, checked and rechecked the votes and now reveal it’s game over for… Sylvain Jamais This leaves “Aspiring Mary Berry” Dawn Gillies, “Hard-working, ambitious, goofy“ James Clarke and “Nerdy, inquisitive, small” Sarah Hampson to fight it out for the £500 prize tomorrow. Who would you like to see win tomorrow’s final battle? VOTE
We’ve counted the votes and you’ve now evicted… Tomas Parrado The engineers left standing after tomorrow’s eviction will battle it out in Friday’s final. Who do YOU want to see in the final? VOTE for your favourite! Students, has taking part changed your view of science and engineering? When you next log in and visit your profile, you’ll see a pink box with 4 questions on the right. Fill in the questionnaire to be in with a chance to win a voucher.
The first engineer you’ve evicted is… Vaanathi Sundaresan One engineer will be evicted every day this week, and you get a new vote each day. Make sure to VOTE to keep your favourite in the competition. A student in each zone will win a voucher for asking great questions (questions that aren’t about One Direction). And remember, you can comment on questions the engineers answer. Do you think the engineer is right? Do you disagree with them? Tell them!
Let’s meet the engineers and schools taking part… The Engineers Vaanathi Sundaresan | University of Oxford I analyse the brain images using software tools to diagnose diseases in early stages, so that they can be treated easily. Tomas Parrado | Cairn Research I design and build weird and wonderful equipment to help scientists with their wacky experiments. Sylvain James | Cambridge Consultants I develop medical equipment that help us know what is wrong with sick people and help the doctors treat them. Sarah Hampson | PhD Student, Loughborough University I’m trying to 3D print mini devices that can analyse cells, pollen and other tiny things. James Clarke | Imperial College London I am a neurotechnologist, designing wearable sensors to help us understand how brain diseases affect the way people walk and balance. Dawn Gillies | PhD Student, University of Edinburgh I’m a bioengineer – I use lasers to research cancer to try to improve medical care. The Schools Bishop Challoner Catholic … Continue reading
